Being:Art's Akambira, like the Nature Explore Marimba, is made of Ipe, Cedar, Stainless & Galvanized Steel; making it an ideal outdoor instrument.

The design is derived from an African Xylophone, the akadinda. It is set up similar to a mbira or thumb drum with the lowest pitched key in the middle and then alternating left and right to move up the scale. The key is C major pentatonic. The range is from C5 to C7 (relative to the piano) which is in a high enough range that it does not need resonators.
